Welcome

The Office of the Vice President and Dean of Students in the University oversees student health services at the University of Chicago which includes the planning and implementation of the student health insurance program. Student health insurance at the University is referred to as the University Student Health Insurance Plan (U-SHIP).
Student health services are primarily provided through the Student Care Center (SCC) and the Student Counseling and Resource Service (SCRS). Services obtained at these offices are largely covered by the mandatory Health and Wellness Fee. The student's U-SHIP cost and the Health and Wellness Fee are separate costs which are assessed automatically on the student's account at the beginning of each quarter.
For more information on the U-SHIP plan, SCC, SCRS, and any other health insurance related questions please utilize the navigation bar to the left.
The Office of the Vice President and Dean of Students also convenes the Student Health Insurance Review Committee (SHIRC), which annually reviews the student health insurance plan. The Committee holds town hall meetings that students are invited to attend to provide feedback on the plan and student health programs.
